Aircraft Dispatcher (ADX) Practice Test

This aircraft dispatcher practice test has 129 questions for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher (ADX) knowledge test, with the correct answer, an explanation and the 14 CFR or AIM reference for every question.

Questions and answer order are shuffled every time. Learning codes (PLT) match the FAA Airman Knowledge Test learning statement codes.

Practice questions for study only. Always study from the current 14 CFR, the Aeronautical Information Manual and the FAA testing supplement.

Practise for the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher knowledge test

The Aircraft Dispatcher (ADX) knowledge test is the written exam you must pass before the practical test for an FAA aircraft dispatcher certificate under 14 CFR part 65. It covers Part 121 dispatch and flight-following rules, flight and duty limits, weather, aircraft performance and loading, navigation, ATC procedures and human factors. This bank mixes questions in the style of FAA sample questions with original questions written from the regulations and FAA handbooks, each with an explanation and reference.

How to use it

  1. Choose a topic or keep all topics.
  2. Pick how many questions you want; 80 matches a full-length test.
  3. Choose Practice mode for instant feedback or Exam mode to see answers only at the end.
  4. Answer each question, then review the topic breakdown and the questions you missed.
  5. Use Retry missed to drill only the questions you got wrong.

What the ADX test covers

  • Regulations: 14 CFR parts 1, 25, 65, 91, 117 and 121, and NTSB part 830: dispatch release, alternates, fuel, flight and duty limits, operational control, equipment and reporting.
  • Weather: METAR, TAF, PIREP, SIGMET and AIRMET decoding, fronts, icing, thunderstorms, wind shear and the jet stream.
  • Aircraft and performance: takeoff and landing limits, drift-down, weight and balance, high-speed aerodynamics.
  • Navigation and ATC: courses and variation, equal time point, RVSM, holding, airspace, communication failure.
  • Human factors and CRM: hypoxia, alcohol, spatial disorientation, CRM and threat and error management.

How to use this with your study plan

Start with a 25-question mixed test to find weak topics, then choose that topic and run it until you score above 85%. Before your test date, take two or three full-length 80-question tests in Exam mode. The FAA passing score is 70%, but aim well above it because the real test also includes chart and performance-figure questions from the testing supplement.

Accuracy and practical tips

This bank does not include questions that need figures from the FAA-CT-8080-7D testing supplement; practise those with the official supplement. Regulations change, so check answers against the current eCFR. If you spot an answer that looks wrong or out of date, let us know through the contact page.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions are on the FAA ADX test?

The Aircraft Dispatcher knowledge test has 80 multiple-choice questions, and you need 70% to pass. Check the FAA Airman Knowledge Testing Matrix for current details before you book.

Are these the real FAA test questions?

Some follow the style and wording of publicly released FAA sample questions; the rest are original questions written from the same regulations and handbooks. The live FAA test draws from a larger bank that changes over time, so focus on understanding each explanation rather than memorising answers.

What is a PLT code?

A learning statement code. The FAA lists one on your knowledge test report for every question you miss, so you can see which subject areas to review.

Do I need the testing supplement?

For the real test, yes: many questions use charts and performance tables from FAA-CT-8080-7D. This practice test covers the questions that can be answered without it.
